Adult Sunday School

Adult Sunday School is dedicated to Bible study, contemplation, and praying for one another.  Here we focus our hearts and heads on Christ and His Word before our corporate worship begins.  Believing all Scripture is profitable for teaching and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16), Adult Sunday School features teaching to support growth in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, growth of our corporate prayer life, mutual encouragement, and gospel-centered community.  Our focus is on Christ and our passion is knowing Him more through studying His Word together.

About Adult Sunday School

We meet Sundays at 8:45 AM in Building A.

1 Samuel

1 Samuel records God’s sovereign rule over Israel as He raises up Samuel, Israel’s final judge, establishes Saul as king, and then chooses David, a man after His own heart. The book reveals God’s holiness in judging sin, His faithfulness to His promises, and His power to work through humble servants. Studying 1 Samuel teaches us Christlikeness as we see God’s pattern of exalting the lowly, humbling the proud, and preparing His people for the true King, Jesus Christ. It calls believers to trust God’s providence, walk in obedience, and grow in holiness, knowing He rules over all for His glory.

Ruth

Ruth tells the story of God’s providence and covenant faithfulness through a Moabite widow who clings to Israel’s God and His people. In the days of the judges, God redeems Ruth through Boaz, her kinsman-redeemer, and establishes the lineage of King David, pointing forward to Christ, our Redeemer. This book displays God’s holiness, mercy, and sovereignty as He works through ordinary lives to fulfill His eternal plan. Studying Ruth encourages Christlikeness, teaching believers to trust God’s providence, pursue faithful love, and rest in His redemption that brings hope and salvation.

Judges

Judges recounts Israel’s repeated rebellion, God’s righteous judgment, and His mercy in raising deliverers to rescue His people. The book reveals the danger of sin, the consequences of rejecting God’s kingship, and the need for a righteous Savior. Despite Israel’s unfaithfulness, God remains sovereign and faithful to His covenant promises. Studying Judges calls believers to holiness, repentance, and trust in Christ, the true and final Deliverer. It warns against doing what is right in our own eyes and teaches us to walk in obedience to God’s Word.

Joshua

Joshua records God’s fulfillment of His covenant promises as Israel enters and conquers the land of Canaan under Joshua’s leadership. The book displays God’s holiness in judgment, His power in granting victory, and His faithfulness in giving rest to His people. It calls believers to courage, obedience, and wholehearted devotion to the Lord. Studying Joshua teaches Christlikeness by pointing to Jesus, our greater Joshua, who secures eternal rest and inheritance for His people.
