Becoming a Member

Church membership is a core value at Desert Son.  It is our commitment to Christ and His people on display.  God purposed to knit His people together as family in the church, for a chord of three strands is not easily broken.  As family, we worship and serve Him, grow spiritually, and reach a lost and hurting world.  As family, members pray, give, serve, attend worship, and accept the spiritual guidance of the church.  As family, we spur one another on toward Godliness, in unity, purity, and peace.  These are solemn responsibilities of church membership and are not to be taken lightly.
We use the word “member” in the following ways:
  • To describe a believer united in heart to Christ and His people. He is so united by being a member of His Body, and, as a picture and expression of this, he is a member of a local body of believers, which is a physical representation of the universal, spiritual Body of Christ.
  • To indicate the soul toward whom the elders have an obligation before Christ and for whom the Pastors will give an account on the day of judgment.
  • To indicate one who has entered into a relationship of mutual covenant accountability with each other and with those who are officers of the church (elders and deacons).
Pathway to Membership:
  • Attend a Membership Informational Meeting.
  • Apply for membership using the New Member Application on this page.
  • Participate in a membership conversation with two elders.
  • Be baptized (if not already Biblically baptized).
  • If approved by the Elders for membership, be presented to the congregation to be welcomed into membership during a Sunday worship service.
